Statement from The Office of Modern Composition

Posted on Thursday, June 4, 2020 by The Office of Modern Composition

We are enraged at the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others.

As Chicagoans, we know the human cost of the discrepancy between police power and police accountability.

The Office of Modern Composition urges Mayor Lightfoot to pass the CPAC Ordinance to ensure greater police accountability.

In this call, we join the coalition of organizations that include Chicago Teachers Union, SEIU Local 73, United Working Families, Democratic Socialists of America, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, Black Lives Matter-Chicago, Indivisible Chicago, Trinity United Church of Christ, and Standing Up for Racial Justice.

We will not relinquish this fight until it’s universally recognized, in our nation’s laws, institutions, and civil society, that BLACK LIVES MATTER.
